Performance Racing Industry 2023

Anyone who dabbles in art knows that if your heart is still beating and you’re above ground, there’s a good chance that you’re not making a living at it. For it’s our surviving family that profits from it when we are dead. And that’s assuming that we are on the same playing field as the Picasso’s and the Rembrandt’s of the world. Otherwise, they’re just as broke as us.

So what does this drivel have to do with anything? My 9-5 for a large portion of my life has been in the racing field, and the one big event that the industry throws every year for the competition motorsports end of the automotive world is the PRI Show. Three days of the ultimate candy store for anyone involved in motorsports, whether competitor, team owner, fabricator or mom-n-pop race shop, This show has something for us all, and I’ve been attending it for almost 40 years now.

It’s art, please have an open mind. Most of these contraptions don’t only take a butt load of skills to build, but one heck of an imagination to get there. Ain’t no different than what I do on my side gig, only on a much larger scale. So have a look at these pics and see what for me at least, has sparked many an inspiration to create the work that I do.
